Facility Energy Performance

This process begins with an Energy Star evaluation using EPA's Portfolio Manager. HVAC equipment performance tracking measures key system operating parameters on one minute intervals. Equipment performance data is used to identify equipment issues that impact overall facility energy usage. Portfolio Manager provides for monthly utility bill tracking that generates updated Energy Star ratings.

HVAC Equipment Alerts and Reports

Temperatures and equipment operating information is logged to an extended database for continuous evaluation. Measured operating conditions look back in time for anomalies based on good engineering practices. Deviations cause an alert to be generated and sent to key operating personnel. Reports document operating issues along with a summary of HVAC equipment operating alerts. Data is used to suggest retro-commissioning opportunities.

Setup Energy Star Portfolio Manager and Check Energy Star Rating

Energy Star Portfolio Manager is provided by the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) for the national evaluation of building energy performance. It uses weather-corrected data to allow comparing a building, no matter it’s location, to other similar buildings. Factors influencing building energy usage include: occupied months, occupied daily hours, type of building, occupant density, cooling and heating options, and schedules. Use Energy Star Rating to compare year-over-year energy performance.

Track Monitoring and Equipment Alerts

Each boiler will be monitored for running on days requiring heat in the building. Failure to run will generate an alert delivered by email to building supervisors. Boiler operating conditions and temperature data will be logged and made available through a realtime graphical screen. Users can access equipment operation using a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
